Matthew has worked as a cartoonist, illustrator, graphic artworker, and both a lithographic and a silkscreen printer.
He studied Graphic Design at HCA from 1999 to 2001, and has since traded as Think Graphic, designing mostly for print, including branding, marketing and interpretive graphics.
A growing interest in sustainable living led him to design and build a straw bale studio, and then on to developing, marketing and trading as The Fabulous Cob Oven Company. This work takes Matthew into schools and communities all around the UK, where together they build wood-fired ovens from the earth underfoot.
Statement
I have enjoyed a varied working life, generally making bespoke things… countless model aircraft, a 400th scale model of Snaresbrook Crown Court, a Bucking Bronco, a hen that laid golden eggs and several robot Polar Bears. And that’s just up to my 23rd birthday. A current commission is to make a scale model of Roman Leintwardine. My Freshwater Pearl Mussel sculpture was designed to celebrate the freshwater pearl mussels on the Clun River.
